Works of Mercy Fund

Losing a loved one is hard, and we want to do what we can to help ease the burden. Our Works of Mercy fund assists families in the community who may not have the financial means to make burial arrangements.

To help bring comfort and peace of mind to families, the Works of Mercy fund also covers:

  • bereavement support and connections to Catholic healthcare providers
  • ministry formation for Elizabeth Ministry chapters
  • no-cost burial for families who lose children under the age of one year
  • your charitable contributions through this fund also allows us to offer burial space for clergy.

Funding sources include: collections at the monthly Mass of Remembrance, donations from Gardens of Gethsemani families, proceeds from book donations and generous contributions from our community.

If you would like make a donation to the Works of Mercy fund, you may give below or please speak with Terry Whiteley at (604) 531-2141 or by emailing twhiteley@rccav.org

Jesus and The Children

Memorial Garden Project

As Catholics, we empathize with the families who have experienced the unthinkable pain of losing a child. We we do this by providing a special place for them at the beautiful Gardens of Gethsemani at no cost. When parents suffer a miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death, their child deserves to be named, buried and remembered in their community. For 50 years, “Rachel’s Garden” has been the burial place for God’s little children, but it is now reaching capacity.

The process for a new memorial garden is underway and we are seeking an additional $225,000 to complete and beautify this garden. We ask you to open your hearts and give generously and support families through this difficult time.
